In Limbo!
I have sad news... Due to a domestic violence situation that I have been in some time now, I am finally escaping to a warmer climate. I have finally found the means to get out, so will be moving in a few days, meaning that I will be unable to do much quilting until I am settled in my forever home. Of course, I am taking all of my little bits with me so that I can honor my swap commitments though! So hopefully they will keep me going in the rough travels ahead. I also won't be able to do much blogging, but.... this can only mean better things ahead for me and the childerbeasts... So until then... Have fun!

Busy busy busy...
I started today on the block for my block swap adventure partner for the month, Kathy... She has no color or block preferences, which had me stumped for a few minutes, but then something clicked and I knew exactly what I was going to make for Kathy! The fabrics are from my absolute favorite collection, so I hope she likes!

Awesome Giveaway!
RocknQuilts are giving away some scrumptious fabrics and a Quilters Newsletter magazine with some gorgeous patterns in it to one lucky reader! Head on over for a peek! RocknQuilts
U is for Unicorn
Many many years ago when I was about 14 or 15, Mumsy dearest started a U is for Unicorn wall hanging for me. I have no idea where it is now, or if she even finished it! I think I will have to dig it out on my next trip up there...
But... I was looking through a friend's Facebook photos, and came across one of the letters from the set that she had appliqued for her brother. I quizzed her about it, and she kindly offered to lend me her copy of the book that it came from!
So now I am stitching all of the patterns in the book to make into my own wall hanging for my room... Just proves that true gorgeousness never goes out of fashion!
Also this afternoon I made a quickie block (A6 Uncle Homer) for my Dear Jane quilt, and I am really liking the color! I'm reworking all of my DJ blocks that I have completed so far, as I didn't like the purples... So now my DJ will have black background with bright varigated pink, turqouise, cornflower blue and purple, only five colors in the entire quilt, including the background black. Sooo not traditional colors, but I've never been the type to slot myself into a mold!

Block Swap Adventures...
Ive decided to delve into the oh so gorgeous world of block swaps. I'm signed up for The Block Swap Adventure and I get my first swap partner in 3 days time... I'm so excited!
Louis, one of the DJers, mailed the list with a request for donations of CW fabrics, as he lost all of his blocks to mildew when his blocks were in storage. So my task on Saturday is to go shopping for a few fat quarters to help him start again, along with the fabric to make up my swap block! And as he has just moved into a new unit, I am going to stitch him up a little stitchery cushion as a bit of a housewarming gift!
In the meantime, I made this gorgeous little "home sweet home" stitchery from the Urban Threads range, it is so mega cutesy! I may do a quilted border and frame it, or quilt it into a wall hanging... not sure which yet! But yes, pics! Sorry about the crinkling, the kids are up so I can't get the iron out yet!
I've also made a start on another stitchery from Urban Threads... It is a set of Tarot Card stitcheries which I will make up into a wall hanging for my bedroom... They are ultra cute, just like all of the Urban Threads patterns! Best get started!

Current Projects!
I have a few on the go at the moment, some for me, and some for flood relief quilts, but I suppose that's normal for a quilter! I've got so many quilts that i have started that I never really know what to do next! I suppose I'd better list them all here!
1. Purple hexagons single bed quilt for my daughter. This one is done in varegated purples in four shades, in lines across the quilt in four colours. I havn't decided on a border yet for this, so it has fallen by the wayside until I find the perfect fabric to finish it off, but apart form the border, the quilt top itself is completed. This is the first quilt I have ever made, and I must say, it turned out rather nice!
2. Scrappy squares queen size quilt for myself in William Morris fabrics, the purple and teal tones. This one is just randomly offset squares, about six inch, in two different prints each of teal and purple. Super simple, but I plan to jazz it up by following the patterns in the fabrics to let them speak for themselves. The quilt top is complete, but once again I am at a loss for what to use for a border fabric.
3.Tiny hexagon quilt, not sure if it will be a single, double or queen or even lap quilt yet. I was given a bag of semi completed hexagons, the design that was worked so far was a lemon yellow center, 6 plain hexagons around that, then 12 patterned hexagons around them. These are all surrounded by plain white cotton. Rather cute and refreshing really, but a lot of work, so I think it may end up in a few lap quilts, as life is getting a bit hectic! This will be a donation quilt, Im just not sure yet if it will go to Queensland or Victoria.
4. Purple Dear Jane... I'm not sure if I am going to continue with this one, I really love the design of the Jane Stickle quilt, but I'm not really loving the purples that I have used so far. Most likely I will add a few to the blocks that I have done so far and turn it into a lap quilt or wall hanging. But... I will definitely be making another Dear Jane quilt, as they just seem to scream of simpler times, and working them allows me to slip away and daydream.
5. This one kind of came about by mistake. A friend gave me a little package of what she thought were redwork stitcheries she acquired through a swap. When I got them home and had a look, the top one was a redwork stitchery, and the bottom 6 were blanks of calico and batting that hadn't been stitched yet. In the package were patterns for some gorgeous little raggedy anne girls in different poses. They were just begging for a little girls room to live in, so I am doing them on white in purple, blue, green, a pale orange, pink and turquoise, so it shouldn't be too hard to find some pretty fabrics to pretty them up.
I am also tossing around the idea of making an embroidered quilt in skull designs or tattoo designs from UrbanThreads in blacks, silver, and brights. Their designs are ultra hot, Im just in love with them all!
